An allergy is the body’s response to ingesting a substance it deems harmful. This causes the immune system to go into overdrive with an aggressive attack against the foreign substance. It can be triggered by:
- Ingesting Specific Foods (such as pineapple and wheat-based products)
- Touching Certain Substances (such as poison oak)
- Inhaling an Irritant (such as pollen or animal dander)
Allergies and tolerance levels vary from individual to individual. So too does the body’s response. However, in most cases allergies primarily affect the respiratory system. These responses often present in one (or all) of the following ways:
- Runny nose
- Itchy eyes
- Watery eyes
In some instances, allergy symptoms are seasonal, such as during the spring when the air is heavy with pollen. (This type of allergy is often referred to as Hay Fever.)
In other instances, allergy symptoms can present year-round. For example, if you’re allergic to pet dander and are constantly around dogs, you could consistently experience an immune response.
Naturally Treating Allergies
Being in good health is one of the best ways to combat allergy symptoms. And, good health starts with your nutrition. Often, a food in a patient's diet can trigger their allergic reaction without them even knowing! The following three ways can help you treat allergies naturally:
1. Healthy, Trigger-Free Diet
To identify what food trigger responses for you individually, it’s commonly recommended scale you eliminate any potential triggers. This could include alcohol, caffeine, dairy, chocolate, peanuts, red meat, wheat, citrus fruit, and sugar.
For some patients, certain foods are only triggers during certain times of the year. For instance, if a patient has Hay Fever, pineapple might trigger a response during allergy season, but not during the winter.
Another aspect of health, which we rarely think about, is sleep. Sleep is essential to your body’s proper function. In order to keep symptoms at bay, it’s recommended you get a full night’s rest.
3. Natural Remedies
Many doctors recommend regular doses of decongestant and other significantly toxic chemicals. While these medicines can provide relief, they only mask the symptom.
Unfortunately, treating the symptom simply makes a patient dependant on the chemicals. Homeopathy offers a safe and effective alternative. It treats the individual rather than the symptom. This allows you to get healthy and stay healthy without being reliant on pills.
