Women and Hormone Balance

How important is a healthy hormone balance?

What many women don't realize is that many of the hormones that can lead to emotional swings and physical problems, are also the very hormones that can keep women healthy and happy-when in balance.

The hormones within a woman's body are very delicate and their balance can be disrupted easily, often starting as early as 35 years old with what many women know as perimenopause. Our doctors are seeing the signs and symptoms of hormone imbalance earlier and earlier in women's lives. The ability of a woman to enjoy a long, healthy, vital and productive life depends in large part on their ability to maintain hormone balance as they age.

The symptoms of hormone imbalance can make a woman absolutely miserable, and they can affect the daily quality of life in profound ways. Symptoms can include:

  • depression
  • fatigue
  • weight gain
  • sleep problems
  • irritability
  • impatience
  • menstrual cycle abnormalities
  • heavy menses
  • cramping, bloating
  • headaches
  • mental changes
  • foggy brain
  • loss of memory
  • lack of focus
  • lack of motivation
  • decreased libido
  • loss of interest in sex
  • decreased sensitivity to intimate touch
  • sensitivity to noise
  • sensitivity to light
  • anger
  • loss of productivity
  • infertility
  • many more

When hormone imbalances continue for many years and become long term problems, women and their loved ones can be miserable. During the last decade our doctors have treated thousands of women with hormone imbalances and during that time, we have seen many hormone treatments become increasingly popular and more widely accepted. The women that find our doctors are proactively doing everything the can to keep their hormones in balance so that they can prevent many of the negative health consequences that can be a result of hormone imbalances and hormone problems. The lack of balanced hormones has been demonstrated to contribute to problems such as:

Hormones over time will naturally begin to decline, especially after 50 years old. However, it is not something that women necessarily need to accept as their "new normal" and suffer through. There are many ways to improve quality of life, decrease risk of the consequences of more serious health problems, and feel vital once again - all naturally!

Hormone decline is natural, and so is getting sick and physical deterioration. Making the right choices about your health and how you define "true health" is a key aspect of deciding if you are ready to consider being treated for hormone imbalances. In very general terms, we find that women's bodies are not able to rely completely on food, exercise and stress management to meet all of their physical needs. Restoring balance with hormones is helped by making healthy lifestyle choices, however - it is the physiological burdens that can cause serious health problems, that we seek to correct with hormone balancing treatments. After being tested, many women discover that they need hormone replacement therapies (HRT) with natural bioidentical hormones to restore balance within their hearts, minds, bodies and spirits.

Every aspect of a woman's life can be affected by her sense of well being or lack thereof. Professional changes, personal changes, family problems, intimate relationship issues - can all often be improved by being dedicated to getting the right information to empower a woman with the understanding of her body and what she truly needs as an individual.

Our doctors recommend hormone testing as the first step in learning how you can restore your hormone balance and reclaim your vitality once again.
